In 2000, Emanuele Crialese developing his film Grazia's Island (Respiro), looks for two Sicilian kids. He then meets Francesco Casisa, 13, coming from Palermo's suburbs, and Filippo Pucillo, 9, from Lampedusa Island. 5 years later they meet again on the set of The Golden Door (Nuovomondo). This documentary narrates the growth of Francesco and Filippo through their experience on the movie set.
