Sonia Bergerac is a French teacher at a school for 'difficult' children. The considerable problems she encounters in adapting to her new workplace are compounded by her husband's decision to leave her and before long she is teetering on the edge of a nervous breakdown. She wears skirts to school even though the Principal advises against it. Sonia can't tolerate being treated like a whore. She simply wants to teach her class. But she's also afraid because has found a weapon in one of her student's bags. Surprised, she grabs it, and, amidst the confusion accidentally fires a shot. The bullet injures her pupil's leg. Police, media, politicians, parents, teaching staff arrive. So Sonia has just one chance: she takes her class hostage...
