OFFICIAL COMPETITION
Eros and Psyche Award
The Official Competition of the Festival is dedicated exclusively to Mediterranean film. It explores the different themes and styles in the attempt of finding new talents and great authors capable of defining a common identity enriched by a variety of languages and narrative styles. The International Jury will assign the Eros and Psyche Award to the best film, as well as the Special Mention and Artistic Expression recognitions.

INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION
Open Eyes Award
The international documentary competition proposes a series of works which give us an open-minded and lively glimpse into the current topical issues regarding Europe and the countries of the Mediterranean area. An international jury composed of well-known experts in the field will assign the Open Eyes Award.

INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION
Methexis Award and Cervantes Rome Award
This competition is open to short films from European, Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern countries. The International Jury, made up of film students from Euro-Mediterranean countries and a group of detainees from one of the Italian Penitentiaries, will assign the Methexis Award dedicated to the promotion of Intercultural Dialogue in the Euro-Mediterranean area. The students will also assign the Cervantes Rome Award to the most innovative short film. The Award is offered by the Instituto Cervantes Roma.

SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTS AND SPECIAL EVENTS

LEBANON AND SPAIN: GUESTS OF HONOR
Various events have been planned to pay tribute to Spain and Lebanon: both countries will have films participating in the main categories and two Special Showcases will focus on the best films made in both countries. A delegation of directors, actors, journalists and field experts from both countries will also be present.

NEW EUROPE - 6th edition
In 2005 MedFilm started an important competition dedicated to European films produced with the support of Eurimages. As of this year, the showcase will also present works made with the support of the Media programme and those up for the European Parliament LUX Prize: a selection of films from multi-cultural Europe that examine the changes constantly redefining the boundaries of the old continent. This year the showcase will dedicate a focus to the cinema of Belgium.

LE REGARD DES AUTRES - 6th edition
As the title suggests, the showcase is a selection of the many different views that make French society and culture a lively example of multiculturalism. The intimate traits, typical of French cinematography are combined here with the more ironic, colorful and stronger traits of the Maghreb world with whom France is inseparably linked. This year's showcase will dedicate a special section to emerging authors from Morocco.

Showcase dedicated to the latest italian productions. A selection of italian short films according to the festival issues.

GLANCES FROM THE FUTURE
The short films made by the students appointed as members of the jury of the Methexis Award.

SHORT FILMS FROM THE JAIL
The Italian Penitentiary Institutions will participate not only as members of the jury of the Short Film Competition but also as authors of short -and medium length films based on the themes explored by the Festival.
