MedFilm Festival 2010
Mediterranean Cinema in Rome

Manifesto MFF 2010

NOVEMBER 11-21
> Auditorium Conciliazione
> Casa del Cinema

Since its inception in 1995, the MedFilm Festival has always been faithful to its objective: the promotion of intercultural dialogue between the two shores of the Mare Nostrum through the cinema of its northern and southern countries, in order to deal with key issues such as immigration, integration, the fight against racism and xenophobia and the protection of human rights.

The 16th edition of the MEDFILM Festival, which the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities has acknowledged as a Festival of National Interest and a Historical Event of the Municipality of Rome, will take place from November 11-21 2010 at Auditorium Conciliazione and Casa del Cinema.

The 2010 MedFilmFestival will offer, as in its best tradition, a full schedule of screenings, special events and meetings with the authors: a selection of the best Mediterranean and European films, including feature, short and documentary films, many of which are previews. A Grand Tour that from the Southern shores takes you to the new territories of Eastern Europe, introducing the Italian audience to great authors and young talents capable of representing modern times and redefining boundaries and mutual points of contact.

The Guests of Honor of the 2010 edition will be SPAIN and LEBANON, to whom the festival shall dedicate a number of special events, screenings and tributes. Both countries will have films participating in the main categories and there will be two Special Showcases which will focus on the best films made in both countries. A delegation of directors, actors, journalists and field experts from both countries will also be present.

For the third consecutive year, MedFilmFestival will present the Professional days for Euro-Mediterranean Film, with the aim of enhancing knowledge of the various audiovisual markets on behalf of film professionals, and encourage co-productions between Europe and the Mediterranean as well as a more efficient distribution and circulation of films in the area.

For the 10th year in a row, the Methexis Award will be held: this is part of the Methexis Project, whose main objective is to create a human and professional bond between students of cinema. They are the future protagonists of the Euro-Mediterranean audiovisual scenario seen in a pluralistic and inter-cultural perspective.
