MEDFILM FESTIVAL – 32nd EDITION

From 5 to 15 November 2026, the MedFilm Festival returns to Rome. Dedicated to Mediterranean cinema, it is the capital’s longest-running film festival and Italy’s only event devoted to Euro-Mediterranean cinematography.

Founded and directed by Ginella Vocca, the festival celebrates its 32nd edition, continuing a journey that, for over thirty years, has brought together cultures and cinematic traditions from across the shores of the Mediterranean through films, encounters, educational initiatives and professional cooperation.

The Visual Identity of the 32nd Edition

This year, the MedFilm Festival dives into the depths of the sea. The visual identity of the 32nd edition takes us to an underwater world inhabited by tiny luminous organisms and geometric shapes that emerge, “radiating light and colour”. Underwater figures explore this mysterious environment, filled with wonder and discovery.

The imagery draws a parallel with the festival experience itself: “diving in and encountering films that can surprise us, enlighten us and reveal something we have yet to discover”.

The depths evoke the Mediterranean Sea, while plankton, the foundation of marine life, becomes a metaphor for the films in the programme: “diverse, vibrant and luminous presences sharing the same space”.

The luminous elements were created using computer-generated imagery (CGI). The underwater figures are based on archival photographs reworked using artificial intelligence, while the composition and animations were produced using traditional digital animation techniques.
