Un misterioso furgone dai vetri trasparenti vaga per le vie di Beirut. La macchina da presa esplora la città dietro i finestrini. Lungo la strada, sono numerose le persone invitate a condividere un momento intimo e personale della propria storia privata. Ognuno diventa un volto, un corpo, un atteggiamento, una voce, un attitudine, un’emozione, un punto di vista, un ricordo. Confessioni autentiche, schiette, profonde. Quando il van si svuota e torna in giro per Beirut, impaziente si rimette alla ricerca di qualcosa, di qualcuno.
A clear glass van roams through the streets of Beirut, inside the van there is a camera that explores the city behind the glass. On the road, several people are invited to share their personal intimate moment in this moving confessional. Each one becomes a face, a body, a posture, a voice, an attitude, an emotion, a point of view, a memory. Their confessions are true, blunt, and intimate. However, soon the van is empty again and roams through Beirut restlessly looking for something, for someone.
Cresciuta a Beirut dove ha studiato presso l’Institut des Etudes Scéniques, Audiovisuelles et Cinématographiques (IESAV) dell’Université de Saint-Joseph, Sarah Francis ha realizzato nel 2005 il suo primo lavoro, Interferences. Saggio di diploma, il cortometraggio ha vinto il concorso riservato agli studenti all’European Film Festival di Beirut: la città libanese erà già al centro dei suoi interessi. Dopo aver partecipato a vari workshop internazionali, dal 2006 lavora come regista freelance per diverse società di produzione. Attualmente sta sviluppando un video per Ashkal Alwan ‘Video Works 2014’ e un documentario in collaborazione con DOX: LAB (CPH: DOX).
Sarah Francis grew up and studied in Beirut at the Institut des Etudes Scéniques, Audiovisuelles et Cinématographiques (IESAV) at Université de Saint-Joseph. In 2005 her graduation short movie, Interferences won the students’ film competition at the European Film Festival in Beirut. In this very first project, the theme of Beirut city was already present. She participated in several international workshops. Since 2006, she has been working as a freelance director for various production companies. She is currently working on a video for Ashkal Alwan ‘Video Works 2014’ and on a documentary within the frame of DOX: LAB (CPH: DOX).
