Re e Zhanxing, due giovani di seconda generazione, tra ritratto e vivido autoracconto: lo studio e il lavoro, la famiglia e l’amore, le aspettative nell’Italia di oggi. Re è nato a Roma in una famiglia filippina, vive con i genitori e la sorella, è fidanzato, frequenta l’università e lavora, spera di trovare nell’arte la propria realizzazione. Zhanxing è nata in Cina ed è arrivata in Italia a 10 anni, si è laureata, vive sola, è in cerca di una chiara definizione di sé e proverà a trovarla viaggiando lontano verso le proprie origini. Sono giovani, stanno diventando adulti immaginando di far coincidere il futuro con i propri sogni.
A double portrait, and two vivid self-narrations, of Re and Zhanxing, two second-generation youths in present day Italy, addressing issues such as study and work, family and love, expectations and fears. Re lives with his parents and sister, is engaged, attends university, works, and one day hopes to be accomplished in the arts. Zhanxing is a graduate, lives alone, is looking for a clear definition of herself and will attempt to find it by exploring her own origins. They are young, are becoming adults and imagining a future that coincides with their dreams.
Nata nel 1977 ad Augusta, Giusy Buccheri è autrice e regista la cui passione è il documentario creativo. È laureata in Storia e Critica del Cinema al D.A.M.S di Bologna e completa la sua formazione all’estero lavorando come aiuto regista in Francia e in Spagna. Rientrata in Italia si è diplomata in regia documentaria presso la scuola del Festival dei Popoli. Attenta ai temi dell’identità e delle migrazioni, è autrice del film documentario Sortino Social Club, il racconto di una comunità siciliana che ha ricostruito le proprie radici agli antipodi. Collabora con produzioni italiane ed europee alla ricerca e sviluppo di soggetti documentari. Nato a Roma nel 1966, Michele Citoni lavora nell’Ufficio Comunicazione, Rapporti Istituzionali e Relazioni Esterne di una società di proprietà pubblica. È per molti anni attivista e dirigente di Legambiente, poi è giornalista free lance specializzato in ecologia e partecipa a progetti di ricerca sulla storia dei movimenti per l’ambiente e la salute in Italia. Dal 2002 realizza documentari e video di documentazione sociale. Come giornalista, videomaker e collaboratore di organizzazioni non governative compie diverse attività in campo internazionale, tra cui missioni in Palestina (1989, 1990) e Albania (1997), la partecipazione al World Summit on Sustainable Development di Johannesburg (2002) e al World Social Forum di Nairobi (2007).
Born in Augusta in 1977, Giusy Buccheri is author and director, her passion is the creative documentary. She has a degree in History and Criticism of Art from the D.A.M.S of Bologna and completed her training abroad, working as assistant director in France and Spain. On returning to Italy, she took a diploma in documentary directing from the school of the Festival dei Popoli. Attentive to subjects of identity and migrations, she wrote the documentary Sortino Social Club, the story of a Sicilian community which has reconstructed its roots in the antipodes. She works with Italian and European productions on the research and development of documentary subjects. Born in Rome in 1966, Michele Citoni works in the Dept. of Communication, Institutional Relations and External Relations of a publicly-owned company. For many years he was an activist and executive of Legambiente, then he became a freelance journalist specialized in ecology. He took part in research projects on the history of movements for the environment and health in Italy. Since 2002 he has independently made documentaries and videos of social documentation. As a journalist, videomaker and collaborator with non-governmental organizations he has carried out several activities internationally, including missions to Palestine (1989, 1990) and Albania (1997), the participation in the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg (2002) and the World Social Forum, Nairobi (2007).
